Koala Approach

Koala Way ABA is a Montessori-inspired ABA micro clinic created to give children a more individualized and natural approach to therapy. We don't believe children should have to fit into a program. We believe the program should be built around the child.

Our micro clinic is intentionally small and capped at 12 children. This allows us to really get to know each child, understand what they need, and provide individualized support without the feel of a large ABA center. Children learn through play, movement, social interaction, everyday routines, and activities that are meaningful to them, while still receiving evidence-based ABA therapy.

At Koala Way, we want the skills children learn in therapy to actually matter in their everyday lives. That may mean working on communication, friendships, toileting, feeding, sleep, school success, flexibility, independence, or something completely different based on the child.

We also understand that some skills are best addressed where they actually happen. That's why limited in-home services are available based on each child's individual needs.

Heart of Koala Way ABA

The name Koala Way was inspired by the gentle, unique nature of koalas and the reminder that growth is not linear. In our work with autistic children, we’ve learned that every child experiences, communicates with, and moves through the world in their own way. Just as no two children have the same strengths, needs, interests, or pace of development, we don’t believe there should be only one path to progress. Instead of asking a child to fit into a predetermined program, we build the program around the child. That philosophy became The Koala Way, meeting children where they are, honoring what makes them unique, and helping them develop meaningful skills while allowing them to grow in a way that feels authentic to them. There’s No One Way to Grow.

Meet the Founder

Koala Way ABA was founded by Candice Jones, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Licensed Behavior Analyst, and former special educator and IEP Chair. Her experience across both education and ABA has shaped her belief that meaningful progress begins with truly understanding the child.

Candice created Koala Way to offer families something more personal: a smaller, supportive environment where children are known, families feel heard, and treatment is thoughtfully designed around each child’s individual strengths and needs.

Her approach brings together her background in special education, behavior analysis, child development, and IEP support. Continuing her commitment to learning and expanding the ways she can support children and families, Candice is also pursuing her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.).

For Candice, Koala Way is more than ABA. It’s a place where children aren’t expected to fit into our programs. We build our programs around them.
